Residence Network (ResNet)

U of T Scarborough Information and Instructional Technology Services provides network connectivity and limited technical support to student residents on campus. Access to the Internet is provided through the University of Toronto's backbone network, and as such, requires compliance with the appropriate university's IT policies.

The Residence Network at U of T Scarborough is a service provided to U of T Scarborough students living on campus with a goal of supporting students' academic activities. The Residence Network is not a commercial service and does not provide unlimited Internet access.

ResNet Service Management

To provide a fair equitable Residence network access for all students, a new management system has been implemented on the ResNet wireless and cabled networks. It is important to understand that the ResNet network should be used for academic purposes, and thus traffic shaping is in place to ensure no abuse of this service.  If misuse of the service takes place, your device will be placed on a remediation network.  While on the remediation network, users will only have access to University of Toronto's academic resources until they visit the Student HelpDesk.

Your connection may also be blocked for various reasons beyond exceeding the allowed daily limit. These reasons range from running Peer to Peer (P2P) filesharing applications, running servers (FTP, SMTP, etc) and abnormal network traffic.
