Study Skills Peer Counsellors assist students, individually or in groups, with study skills including time management, taking lecture notes, effectively reading texts, and test preparation and test-writing skills.

To benefit from this program, you can book an hour appointment with a peer counsellor on the Intranet.

If you are concerned about your grades and would like to get back on academic track, book an appointment with a Study Skills Peer Counsellor who will help identify problem areas and suggest strategies for improvement.

Study skills counselling appointments can be booked up to 1 week in advance on the intranet as follows:

2. Enter your UTORid and password to login
3. Click on “Calendar”
4. Click on the drop down box in the right corner
5. Select “AACC Study Skills Counselling”
6. Select the time
7. Under Re: select “Other”

Recruitment takes place January to April for the following academic year. Eligible students must be going into at least 3rd year, be in good standing and available for training sessions in May and September.

• Excellent experiential learning opportunity for students interested in careers such as teaching, counselling, etc.
• Develop skills relevant to career planning and job searching, counselling, advertising, human resources and leadership abilities
• Work in an environment that is "team based", supportive and friendly
• Provide you with an employment reference
• Learn about writing, research and further develop communication skills
• Allow you to provide input into program design

• Senior (at least 3rd year) University of Toronto Scarborough student
• In "good standing" academically
• Available 3 hours per week and able to attend a meeting per term
• Reliable, excellent communication skills, well organized, responsible
• Enjoy working in a team environment
• Available for training sessions (May and September)
