Interested in participating? Pick up your stamp card from the Academic Advising & Career Centre, Room AC213 today. Each time you attend a seminar, you will receive a signature or stamp from the seminar leader. When you have completed 5 seminars, please submit your card to the Academic Advising & Career Centre. Once your attendance has been confirmed, you will receive a signed certificate.

Wondering what you can do with your degree? Attending this workshop will help you generate realistic career options. Get started with your career planning by attending this workshop.

MBTI and Career Development

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is based on the theory of psychological type developed by Carl Jung. The MBTI can assist you in understanding your communication style, preferred work tasks and work environments. The MBTI Career Report can help you to understand how your personality type impacts career exploration. In addition, it can help you to identify occupations that are well suited for your reported type.
Please note that this are two parts to this workshop and you must attend both. There is also a $25.00 fee to cover the cost of the Career Report you will receive.

Strong Interest Inventory and Career Development

The Strong Interest Inventory is used to help people match their interests with the occupational, educational & leisure activities that are the most compatible for them. The Strong can help you identify career options and educational programs relevant to your interests. It also highlights information about your preferences for leadership, risk-taking and team work. Please note that you must schedule a 1-hour follow-up appointment with a Career Counsellor to discuss your results after attending the initial workshop. There is also a $15.00 fee to cover the cost of the Report you will receive.

The workshop is intended to provide students with an overview with further education options including graduate schools, professional schools and post-graduate diplomas.

Discover alternative job search strategies and resources that can help you generate and follow up on leads for jobs you really want. The second hour of this workshop will focus on effective use of the Internet to save time, increase job leads and minimize frustration. 

Interview Techniques to Land that Job

Learn and practice successful interview techniques, including effective preparation, handling difficult questions and marketing your skills and experience.

Making Connections: Networking to Find Work

You may have heard that 80% of positions are never advertised...but did you know that networking is the single most effective method of accessing these hidden opportunities? Come to this interactive workshop to learn more about networking and get a chance to gain hands-on experience using networking skills.

In many cases, your resume and cover letter are your first introduction to an employer. Learn how to present yourself as a professional, and how to market yourself effectively on your resume and cover letter. Understand why cover letters are important and learn tips on how to write them.
